The proposed garden project would create a permanent site for a public community garden, and would provide the basic infrastructure for the garden, including grading, irrigation, fencing, pathways, and plot layout. In addition to providing opportunities for individual garden plots for persons who may not have their own yard area for gardening, this component of the project will also act as an educational resource about sustainable gardening practices. The project is expected to include small-scale demonstrations of composting, worm bins, waste recycling and non-toxic gardening practices. The Middle Way, the RITES Project (Return Intentions Towards Ecological Sustainability), and the Greenacre youth group home plan to utilize the community garden for education and community service projects.
